There is a lot of studies saying that diet soda is bad because it tricks the brain and causes people to gain weight...can one really understand this topic?

Throw in some references, and some thoughts of your own, and I might bite.

What sort of a question is that? Sure you can if you're a dietitian or a nutritionist and this is what you do.

I guess you're trying to form the argument against it (or whatever direction you're taking this thing) with aspartame, the sugar substitute...

Well... I'm not giving judgement on it... For every six people saying there's nothing wrong with it, there are half a dozen saying it, and other sweeteners are responsible for everything bad in modern society.

It's interesting how every few (of either) cite and link to the studies they're all pulling this information from.

On a personal level, I'm not a fan of artificial foodstuffs... I'd rather eat something that has grown naturally than something that was designed and chemically generated.

What are your thoughts on this, CtoC? I'd like to know before I comment.

Most regular and diet sodas are riddled with crap so you've you've already been tricked once you buy that 64 ounce cup of failure.

Very very bad for you. But I still drink it anyway. I should really stop.

Diet soda tricks people into thinking its the same as drinking water. Sure its liquid, but its not the water your body needs.

Diet soda is so bad for you, you should really drink normal soda as much as possible. Especially sodas with as much sugar as possible like Mountain Dew, root beer, and grape Crush. Much healthier for you I've heard.......

you know, if you come here and ask for a soda all you get is sparkling water.
Its still confusing to see you people refer to coke and other such drinks as "soda"

Studies vary. My rationalization is it's all relative - there are many worse things for you.

It's soda: it's bad for you.

'nuff said ;)

Yeah, no type of soda is good for the body. Of course, neither are most fruit juices—even if they are 100% fruit juice, it's still just the sugar from the fruit with very little of the other nutrients. But that's kind of off topic. I hardly ever drink soda; I usually stick with water or green tea.

there's not a single reply to this note giving any reason one way or another.

i don't get so hyper hyper on diet
