I've just passed my 8th week on a diet. I wanted to know if anyone else out there is on a diet, and perhaps share your results?

I started at 225.6 and after eight weeks I weigh 206.6.

I'm on a diet called "Watch portions and make sure you eat more veggies" diet (which is pretty much the French Women Don't Get Fat, Japanese Women Don't Get Old Or Fat, Mediterranean Women Stay Slim, Too, diets). I started at 145 in March, I reached 129 a couple weeks ago, I'm back to 131 'cause of some sloppy habits. I still want to lose 15-20 more lbs. I plan to have that gone by December.

At the beginning, I tracked everything I ate through Nutridiary.com, to count calories and stuff, but after a few weeks of that, I conditioned myself to know what's enough, and to stop eating when I'm full. Not always that easy.

Some tricks that's really helped me: If you're eating outside, drink half or a whole glass of water before tackling your meal. Also, if you know they'll give you a large portion, immediately ask for the take-out box so people who've been conditioned to finish what's on their plate will have less on their plate to finish.

When you feel like boredom snacking and you shouldn't, grab some chewing gum instead. Less calories, and makes your mouth move.

Course, the simple rule of portions include: 1/2 plate should be veggies, 1/4 meat, 1/4 carbs.

Those are my tips.

Of course, exercise daily in some shape or form is crucial.

I'm not just on any diet, I'm on the DDR Diet! Yeah, I play DDR to lose weight and blog about it. I guess it's not really a diet, per se. So far, I've lost like, 20 pounds in less than a year, so that's pretty good.

Tips: Eat less, exercise more, don't drink so much coke.

Two years ago I was a size 26 (UK) and about 18 stone something. I then started taking chinese herbal medicine and also went onto a majority wheat, diary and gluten free diet (my husband has chrons disease and went onto this diet for that reason). I am now a size 12 (!4 if shop isn't being nice) and about 11 1/2 stone. I lost the majority of it in a year and for the last year have steadily gone from 16 to 12. I didn't monitor calories really and the chinese medicine has dealt with my weight as I had a health problem I hadn't realised was causing the weight gain. I still want to loose a few stone and get to a comfortable size 10 as this was what I was always before I put the weight on during my mid 20s.

The hardest thing I have found has been oddly enough adjusting my mind to view the smaller size - my loss was relatively quick for the majority of it and as a result I still think in the larger sizes when shopping for clothes. I admit exercise wasn't really part of the loss, but now to loose the last bit I know I have to look to exercise. I also need to tone up as loosing that amount leaves your body a bit well deflated to put it nicely. I have also cut out red meat and we eat mostly fish if any meat. We try to eat organic seasonal food when we can - I find this helps the weight loss too.

Loosing weight is a great feeling and I am still slightly appauled but pleased with the fact of how differently I get treated. I never had a weight problem before mid 20s and guess I did look at the fatter people and think they were lazy - having it happen to me really did change my perspective. I now understand how hard it can be. I feel lucky that a lot was an illness for me so I haven't had to adjust too much my food. By looking at both though I think was the key to my dramatic loss. Before I had tried to loose weight when it first started coming on and did the slim fast, starving small portions and other stupid diets. None worked - not a suprise. It's by making a change for life the weight stays off and comes off in my experience.

A diet doens't necessarily mean losing weight does it? I am trying to gain some weight, so I have been eating alot more/better, about 4-5 times a day. 3 meals, and 2 good snacks. I also started lifting weights to help build muscle. So I guess you can say I'm on a diet, because I am watching what I eat and whatnot.

A diet is simply a specific regime you are following - the goal of which does not need to be to lose weight. Most often though, it is working towards better health.

Thanks for your feedback so far everyone.

I was on a so-called "diet", but it was one in which ended me up in the hospital.

Cough drops, tylenol and ice cream.

Life is my diet.

I simply work out a lot. I figure, I can eat whatever I want as long as I work it off - at least in terms of weight. I love home made food, so I rarely have to worry about excess grease and what not. Yum!

Not on a diet yet but, will be very shortly here. Right now just trying to decide what diet is right for me.

karmatosed - my mom's trying to go wheat-free, but it's hard for her to find substitutes for all the wheat-containing food she loves. Any suggestions?

I've never been on a diet, but lately have been eating salads for lunch at work. Probably still not that healthy, though, because I love cheese and eggs and creamy caesar dressing.

I've had the opposite problem for periods in my life and I'm always surprised that there is so little talk about gaining weight.

I know (and see) many persons that have this problem too, but we don't seem to talk about it in the same way. It's certainly dangerous to your health to be to skinny too!

Good luck :-) with your diets anyway, it must be very difficult.

I don't know if I could manage it, as the hungry monster I am... *lol*

I'm not a big fan of "diets" so much, more of "changing the way you eat/live permanently".

As such, I'm not really on a diet, but I did become a Vegan last year. It was hard at first, especially because I took the leap RIGHT before going home for Christmas (maybe not the best timing) but here, 8 months later, I'm very accustomed to my eating habits and don't really see it as difficult anymore. And I haven't gotten sick due to cutting out a huge amount of food out of my diet, so that's a plus too!

Plus, it just feels good to know I'm not hurting anyone when I'm eating. :)

No diet here.
But I do eat throw more protein and more fruit in my diet.
And lots of WATER.
Works for me!

Nope never been on a "diet" persay....do workout and try to eat well the majority of the time, everything in moderation....love Taco Bell and Jets Pizza but I watch that.....damn now I'm hungry and its only 9:30 in the AM..
