Given the implications of the "winking smilicon" seen here ;)

Is it immoral to smilicon-wink at someone online if i'm married?

On a daily, sometimes hourly basis, people of both sexes "look but don't touch". The problem with 'online behavior' compared to 'in person' is that the non-verbal behavior, meaning and words accented and depth and quantity of eye contact is missing. Online behavior can be easily confusing and misunderstood. Some people know this and very deliberately use it to give other people the wrong message. Much more caution should be a natural part of online relationships for this reason.

I would be cautious in your online behavior when it comes to icons and even subtle messages that can be misconstrued.

NO....its a gesture used to show friendiness...Now the question is, the person who gives ;)...what are their reasoning?

I flirt with married and women who are taken in real life.

It's just flirting, I've never considered it adultery.

I would say it's okay in this case but this would be the furthest I would go. Don't send any other flirtatious signs beyond this point or you'd be leading her on.

My wife has a list of "husbands"... She's just being playful *all of them are baseball players or country music artists.*

Winking @ someone isn't anything and if your partner feels it is I'd re-evaluate your priorities.

This can't be a serious question.

I think it all boils down to how your spouse feels about your actions online. You don't want to send someone the wrong impression , that you were flirting when you were really just being friendly.

Some people are just more outgoing whether online or in person. In person i'm outgoing laying my hand on someones shoulder, shoving them to make a point, gesturing with my hands, winking. Stuff like that can be taken the wrong way. It just depends on the other person. I would'nt worry about it being called immoral if my spouse did'nt make a fuss about it and the other person was'nt made uncomfortable.

I agree with Ozone42.....this is funny.
