* Get out of the recliner
* Walk over to the fridge
* Open
* Retrieve salsa
* Close fridge
* Turn 180 degrees and walk 2 steps
* Open pantry
* Retrieve tortilla chips
* Close pantry
* Rotate 45 degrees, walk back to recliner
* Sit down
* Consume
* Repeat as necessary
My workout routine consists of walking a few miles daily. I only run while being chased.
I do some weight lifting for my arms but nothing hardcore anymore since High School when I played football. My legs get the work out from the walking I do.
A few times a month when I get motivated, I try doing some sit ups and push ups.
I'll usually do a bike and row machine for cardio stuff. Then stretch a bit. Work on arms for a bit (bench press, bicep curls). Sometimes forearms (for tennis) too. Then it's a mix usually depending on mood hah. I'll usually do a bunch of elevated situps with a medicine ball too. That helps with both back and abs for sure.
A big part of my workout is to try to be on my bike as much as possible. So even if I can't get in a formal workout, I'm still getting in 4,5,6 miles of biking downtown or to my sister's or wherever. I aim to lift weights a couple times a week, and, of course, I bike there and back to get in an extra 7 - 10 miles. I also try to get in a long bike ride (twenty miler or so) once a week (used to be twice a week but it doesn't work so well with DST). I play volleyball one night a week (ideally about three hours of play hard, swing hard fun), and hopefully I'll be skiing at least once a week soon. On weeks when I feel like the weather is keeping me down (not very often in CO), I will resort to the cardio room at the gym.
Basically my workout routine is to have too many hobbies!
@JPhill -- Miles go quickly on a bike, I bet you would be surprised how far you could go. Twenty miles is really not that hard if you're on relatively flat ground. Now if there are any serious grades, then that's a different story.
Up until a year ago, I was running every day. When I started to get low on time, I moved to a different type of workout than just running 5 miles a day. Instead, right when I got up in the morning, I would go for a 20 minute easy jog just to get my heart jump-started and then do sit-ups and push-ups. Research has shown that getting your heart just moving a little right away in the morning will set its pace for the entire day. You may not be actually doing anything, but your heart will be working a little harder and you'll feel like you have much more energy, and consequently burn it off during your normal daily activities.
But now I'm just lazy and all that I do is bike 2.5 miles to and from work every day.
Using the term "work out" actually "guilts" me into going. I really dont enjoy working out until I get to the gym, then I see everyone else,and it motivates me to press on.
I turn everyday things into aerobic activities like cooking (dance around the kitchen), cleaning (dance around the house). Only way to get through doing stuff I don't like.

mattplanet: I tried so hard to hold in my laugh at work, and failed miserably. That is hilarious.
my workout routine is:
Day one: biceps and chest
Day two: calves, thighs, and hamstring
Day three: back and triceps
Day four, five, six: rest!
Then rinse and repeat.

Nicole that is quite the workout. I think I'd pass out on my bike midway of trying to go 20 miles.

Speaking of Groundhog Day, is anybody planning on watching that new Taye Diggs drama "Daybreak" on ABC? I think it looks pretty good.

I dance until I sweat. Ironically I use more muscles doing that than if I went to a gym...which I hate doing.
When I love the weather will be more cooperative for swimming, tennis, I haven't played soccer in years.
I don't like the term "workout" - I just try to be physical.

Yoga, martial arts and lots of dog walking works for me. I also like to go to the gym and do that every now and then to release during the week.

you should do some form of exercise at least 3 times a week...after you do it, you really do feel better physically and mentally...in my experience.

Monday = 4 hours of basketball
Wednesday = 1 mile jog + Biceps, Back, and Shoulders
Friday = 1 mile job + Pecs, Tris, Legs
That is about all I do for now.... But I want to increase the 1 mile to 3 over the winter.
