Some months I get really grumpy and easily frustrated, and blame it on PMS, but other months I'm perfectly cheerful around that time...
Do you think that so many women have real PMS, or just use it as an excuse? I mean, I know my grumpiness is real, but I'm not so sure it's hormone based... I think I might just not keep it in check because I feel like if you say "oh its hormones" you give up trying to control it.

#1. Totally real. I had a girlfriend that was borderline psychotic when she had her period, and otherwise was a totally rational person.
#2. It's interesting that you'd rather not admit to having PMS... a lot of women I know feel that way, and I always thought it strange that a woman would not want to cash in on an excuse that no man would ever argue with. Like, anytime you act like a total bitch to someone, just say it was PMS. Who's gonna question you?

Because I hate myself when I act like a bitch--and if I think its something I have no control over, I'll act more like one. I like to think I can control it... it makes me calm down and start behaving myself.
Before I felt like this, I've had other girls tell me that even if I do have PMS, its not an excuse for being awful, so thats when I first started thinking so much about it.

Having PMS is very real....and unfortunately for some women, they really cant help it. changes in your body so weird things to you, and that ends up affecting your mood (swings)....for me, it happens and it sucks but thats how it is.

Definitely real. I'm not sold that it directly causes mood swings, but it certainly does indirectly. Having a general feeling of crappiness for a couple days will make anyone grumpy.

I don't have PMS but I know some women that do. Like clockwork they feel like crap and because they feel like crap their mood isn't the best.
Feeling bad is not an excuse to treat others inappropriately. People tend to use it as a crutch - not only PMS but general "I don't feel good" times.
There are people who have mood swings that have nothing to do with PMS (ie: men have them too). There are medications for that.

PMS is real, for me anyway. I don't keep track of days and such as I should (no need anymore, thank heavens!), but most months I just get out of bed on a certain day in my cycle feeling fragile, on edge, easily ignited, you name it. About halfway through the day, I'll finally look at myself and say, wait a sec, what day is it, and if I go and check, sure enough it's about a week before my period. For me, it's a self check of sorts, and it will sometimes make me feel better to know that I'm not crazy, but my hormones are making me act it and then it calms down a bit.

PMS is real and my husband can confirm this ;) Seriously though, true PMS is nothing to joke about as it can change the personality completely. I also believe in male PMS. Hormones can effect your chemical make up so much. One thing you can try if you have it bad is evening primrose and star flower - it actually if you take regularly can aid the transition period between period which PMS is an indicator of.

PMS is real. It's a real thing. Only if men could experience such.

haha, yeah, i mean, usually i find that i get unnaturally upset, but there's usually something to blame the upsetness on--except one month i just cried, solid sobbing, for about an hour. I was actually laughing in the middle cuz nothing was wrong, and it was just so weird that I was crying. that was sort of freaky actually...

Having PMS just makes everything more "magnified" if you will...it makes funny things funnier, and upsetting things more upsetting...

I think PMS is a strength. If I'm feelong grumpy then Pms makes me more grumpy. When I'm in a great mood then PMS makes me greater.

I confess "sometimes" I use it as an excuse! LOL I hardly get PMS though to be honest. I am fortunate not to get the monthly visit but twice a year maybe. But when it comes, the PMS is horrible.... I use the PMS to my advantage... =/
Man, women have power! =P

Definitely real. Theres been times when I've snapped at my hubby for saying something and then been like uh... why the hell did i just do that?
I wouldn't say its a sign to me that my umm..... "monthly visitor" is coming, because I don't get it consistently, but I do get it.
