Am I just old or are there any people who are happily married over here?

Married 8.5 years with 2.5 years of dating the same woman and engagement before that. It's a whole different set of issues, but all kinds of relationships are hard.

I've been married for 6 years and 4 months, dated the same girl for 5 years before that, and a 13 month engagement. I've been with her in some form or fashion since 1994.

And happily so. :) She really is my best friend. We have occasional issues of course, but we really enjoy each other's company.

Married over here. Dated for 5 years before, married over 3 years. Best friends for nearly a decade including above. Happy maried over here. Marriage works for us and I think the best friend element is the key regarding marriage. Everyone doesn't get on 100% of the time, I think if they do to be honest that someone is a door mat. Marriage is about getting through good and bad times and being together through it all.

Happily married 4 years here. I'm not sure our previous relationship could be called dating. We got to know each other over a few months and haven't been apart since. Married less than a year after meeting.

Divorced as of 7/5/06 but was with my ex for 13 years. that should count for something right??

I just celebrated my 1 year anniversary on 12/10.

3.5 years, brosef.

Married for 8.5 years. Sometimes I'm surprised that we've been married so long. We've been through a lot these past years. With 4 young children, it's more of an adventure everyday and I learn something new each day.

Been happily married for a year, 6 months, and 2 weeks to a wonderful man who has been reading my weblog for 6 years (and counting!). :)

Married since May 14 2005. Only getting better :)

Married... 5 years 4 months :)

2 kids - 4 and 1

Me too, happy and content for 3.5 years, no kids yet. She never reads my blog or I should say hardly ever. I'll read her posts more often than she'll read them on her own.

It's interesting. We've very different in a lot of our enjoyments. She's books. I'm movies. She's newspaper. I'm internet. It goes on and on but our values and how we navigate through Life is very similar. Guess it always gives us tons of stuff to talk about and share. We're picking up things from different worlds.

I'm not married!

What do married people do on the weekend nights?

The same thing we did when we weren't married, hang out with friends or go out. We're not a separate species you know.

That's a separate note, JPhill.... :)

Actually, here's what we did this weekend.

Friday night - Went to a Christmas party with friends.
Saturday - I worked while my wife finished up some Christmas shopping, then we went to a family Christmas gathering tonight.
Sunday - Tomorrow we're going to church then out to lunch and then going to see Eragon at the Rave, then going to another Christmas party at a bar downtown that some friends of ours own.

We're usually pretty busy most weekend...but even this weekend is an exception.

Alday, I'm not saying your a separate species, but obviously I'm not married. So I was just curious.

Our 10 year wedding anniversary is in January. As of April 2007 we will have been together for 14 years.

Wow, I feel old now. I've been married to my wonderful man for 18 years this December 28th. We were together for a couple of years before that. Sometimes we look at each other and wonder why we got married since we seem to have so little in common, but it works anyway.

With two girls, a teenager and a soon-to-be teenager, and life is very busy, especially on weekends!

Married eleven years, recently separated, three kids.

Relationships are hard. But if you have a good one, its easy to nurture it and put all your energy into it, because there's nothing else you want to do!

Married for 8 years. Dated for 8 years before that. Have 3 daughters. Couldn't imagine life w/o family. Was definitely worth being married a couple years before having kids, though.

I will be in a few months, September 2nd is the date. I'll check back in afterwards and tell y'all how it went :)

Woo! Happy Wedding Mike (and Eleni of course:) ).

Thanks matto!

Wow...seems not being married is the minority here. What's your secret of leading a relationship to marriage?

Married for 15 years.

Since our "gay agenda" hasn't yet been "pushed" on the American public (please note sarcasm), Brian and I aren't "officially" married, but we've been together forever. It'll be 8 years in March. He's my boo. :)

I've been married for just over a year now although we've been together for eleven. I never thought I would get married but it was the natural progression to the relationship and I'm happy I did! I wish she would have agreed to love, honor and obey though. Bah.

I was married on May 10 of this year in Vegas.

13 years this summer....

We have a wild 3 year old daughter and a 8 month old son that still has that 'new car smell'.

Never saw myself being married with a family when I was younger but I can't imagine it any other way now.

Married 23 years this past June. Knew my wife since she was 6. I was 23, she 21 when we married, 25 and 23 when our first child was born. Very happily married and can't imagine, nor would want, any other life.
