I just recently got engaged to the love of my life, Becca. I am so very happy about this... wow. Words can't even describe what I feel.

Congratulations Kyle! I'm a softy for romance.
Perhaps I have things in a muddle, but extrapolating from your previous note, your blog and the flurry of late-March posts on your fiance's blog, you are 19 and living in Canada and she's 16 living in the UK? How did you two meet? Where did you propose? Are you still looking for a flat in Calgary?

Things only get odder as the story unfolds. Of course, getting TO the UK is half the adventure.

Assuming her parents approve, you can apply for a marriage visa in the UK. I think she needs to be 18 to wed in the UK without consent from her parents.
You might want to start looking for cheap flights.

Perhaps you can update your blog with a proper story about how you guys met and fell in love ;)

In Uk it's 16 not 18 to marry. 18 is voting and getting drunk, 16 is marriage, driving car.

At the risk of going off-topic, you can marry at 16 in the UK but (for the average person) this is only with parental consent. See the documentation requirements from the General Register Office.
"the minimum legal age for getting married in England and Wales is 16 years of age but written consent may be required for anyone under 18 years."
In Scotland, FYI, you can marry at 16 without consent but the union may not be recognized within England & Wales.
Congratulations again Kyle!

Yet one more thing the Brits get right and we get terribly wrong.

No matter how old you both are and what the laws of marriage age is anywhere, we wish you both the very best forever.

My fiancee says it's 18 to marry without parental consent. That's okay, it just means we'll have a lot more fun that way.

It sorry I was assume parental ok, but no matter it's not a time for that it's a time for happy and planning. 2 years is no time to plan a kick arse wedding ;)

Why not? I have a friend that planned her own wedding in a very short span of time and spent a minimal amount of money.

I guess I'm the only one here not congratulating you. Wouldn’t it help if you two met first. Someone can be very different on the internet that they are in real life. All is this is nice and like a story book romance, but real life is not about that. 16 is too young to be talking marriage and especially with someone you have not met face to face. My comment is not meant to be little either of you. I just thing this entire thing is ridiculous.
