Best date ever?

Help me out. Describe the best date you've ever been on and why. The most helpful description wins my admiration and respect.

My girlfriend payed for dinner.

Went out the dinner then to a strip club (Trumps), super fun night!

To be honest, I've only been on a few dates, because I've had a girlfriend for hella long. But if I were to choose what I'd want to do for a good date, I'd go out to a non-formal dinner, somewhere relaxing, and then go bowling or something. It's a social event, and it's fun as hell. Dates shouldn't have to be so serious, the point is to have fun and not be nervous and shit. And with bowling, you're up and moving around and relaxed.

That's just my 2 cents!

Interesting and certainly different perspectives. Thanks, JPhill for your advice. :)

I'd rather keep that to myself. :)

I know some women like romantic dates but I prefer the fun ones. Amusement park, beach (if it's warm), swing dates (like at a park, picnic and ride the swings), something fun.

Best date ever... wow, there have been a few really good ones (and bad ones too).

I'd have to say the best date ever would be when going out and the conversation is flowing and you have a lot of laughing and smiling between you and your date.

Good conversation, good food and a fun time like Tyme mentions always makes a date fun and enjoyable.

So Devin, are you looking for ideas for an upcoming date?

Swing dates...glad you were specific. :)

hehe... mattplanet, I don't think Tyme meant "swing dates" how you're thinking... but who knows? she did mention "ride the swings". maybe that's code word for freak-a-holic ;)

Halloween party at college. Girl walks by on her way to the bathroom, double fisting two cups of beer.

"Hey there... can you hold these beers for me for a sec?"
"Hi... yeah sure."

5 minutes later...

"Thanks hon... you handled those cups pretty well."
"Why yes, I believe I did."
"So how do you feel about handling some c-cups?"

Aaaaaaand bedroom.

Later, herpes.

cww: yeah. that totally rocks. any chance of photo proof of this girl? seems Scrivs and I like pictures :) and I'm sure some others wouldn't mind seeing some too.

Ehh, not really looking for ideas necessarily. Just curious what it is that has left people with a good impression after a good date. The answer seems pretty obvious now which is certainly good to know.

I like cww's fable best, though. ;-)

Hahaha, oops. Yes, swings like the thing you ride on outdoors on the playground. :)

I think fun will always win over romantic. Not that you should never be romantic.

Tyme "likes to ride things outdoors"... whoo hooo... I'm so bad, it's a crime. :)

I've never been out on a date... and get this, I'm married and have 2 kids.

My wife and I never dated either.

I'll leave you confused for now.

Turning up in costume and acting like nothing as wrong when you walk into a fancy restaurant. :)

RightOn, I think that might need some explaining!

Slow dancing to Nora Jones on top of King and Queen seat at night near Bel Air, MD. Something I will never forget.

For those of you who don't know. King and Queen seat is a rock cliff/outcrop in Rocks State Park in Maryland that was used in the movie Tuck Everlasting.

RightOn: "I've never been out on a date... and get this, I'm married and have 2 kids.

My wife and I never dated either.

I'll leave you confused for now. "

Well since you're married and have two kids, you've been doing "something"... maybe not dating per se, but...

So how did that work out? Did you meet your wife on some online site and just decide one day without going out on a date "hey, lets get married, make some babies and live happily ever after."

Yeah, I'm confused... hehe.

I think we need to define the term "date" for off. If you meet someone and you hang out at his/her house or work with someone and go out for drinks afterwards or something like that, I would consider that a date. Maybe thats what he means.....just speculating....

As long as we're guessing -- arranged marriage?

According to dictionary.com the word date means:

a social appointment, engagement, or occasion arranged beforehand with another person: to go out on a date on Saturday night.

and now to see what RightOn has to say. I personally think he likes having us be confused ;)

I'm not confused...my mind is all over this as to other options of how they met... =)

RightOn had said "I'll leave you confused for now" so I'm for one confused but stefani, do share your thoughts on other options of how they met.

Maybe on a spaceship abduction?

Ok, but would it be considered a date if he just went to chill at her place, or vice versa?

I think we definitely need to define "going out on a date".

Another point is that he said "My wife and I never dated either" so we need to define dating also.....or maybe he just needs to define dating.

So basically RightOn needs to define both of those! I'm mad confused.

Or, if it was love at first sight, then no need to answer the questions, which would be extreme to meet and immediately say let's get married.........I'm going to stop now because I no longer know what the f*ck I'm talking about.

Ummm JPhill....isnt that sort of what I just said in the prior thread? :)

About just hanging out and each others house, yes, you said you consider that a date right? I was more or less asking overall would people consider that a date? Because I don't think I would. Sorry if I'm reiterating what you said, I was trying to rephrase.

And about defining, yes, I was cosigning your thoughts!

"My wife and I never dated either" - that could mean they both never had previous dating experience.

damn RightOn... you got us all confused. I hope you're happy with yourself :)

@ JPhill no I dont think "hanging out" is considered a date....but I'm pickin up what you're puttin down...

Ok good because I didn't feel like explaining anymore! :)

JPhill: Don't feel like explaining anymore? C'mon, this note is getting just as good as the shower curtain or shower door note. Don't give up now ;)

Dear note-crazy posters, why don't you guys ever hang out in the IRC room? If you think this is fun... well, you'll see.

Devin: I do pop into the IRC room. Usually it's in the evening but since you mention it, I'm heading in there now.

Oh, I mean explaing to Stefani about what I meant. I haven't given up on the thread yet!!

Dev: thanks for the reminded. I forget about IRC. Shame on me.

I specifically say "hanging out" so the guy doesn't think it's a date because it's 1on1. Unfortunately, most men think because it's 1on1 it's a date, kinda making it hard to get to know a guy without being sucked into dating him. Next thing I know we're a couple. Men...

Tyme, I think for "hanging out" or "getting to know someone" sort of things, do it in the afternoon... mid day dates, and I use the term "date" loosely here, seem to be more relaxing and open.

Getting together in the evenings always seems more "personal" then an afternoon meeting. Just my thoughts.

Best time ever hanging out with a girlfriend:

I had a horrible day. She called me up and asked if I was staying at home for the night because of it.

A half hour later she shows up at my door with 2 pizzas, a case of beer and says, "Let's watch Futurama all night".

Amazing, that woman was.

paularms: The company of a good woman, pizza and Futurama, what more could I guy ask for?

So did you marry this gem? Is she now girlfriend 2.0 or wife 1.0? :)

I can't wait to catch you in there sometime then, Sean.

Good story, Paul. Where can I find girls like that? ;-)

Tyme, well, it takes two to tango. If you get to the point where someone thinks you're a couple perhaps you send some mixed signals? ;-)

Unfortunately, she's my ex-ex-girlfriend :( Things got weird because we met through my old best friend and her current best friend. We still talk all the time and hang out watching Futurama now and again.

Yeah Paul that's cool as hell. Good dates don't always have to entail going out for an expensive dinner or something like that. That's the best story in this thread yet!

Ok, I consider a date to be an arrangement between two people to meet somewhere and do things together like watch a movie or eat dinner. To me, going over to your house is not a date.

I met my wife as a member of the Phantom Regiment. I was a Soprano player and she a colorguard member. We were bus partners (meaning we shared a bank of seats on tour). Afterwards we kept in touch and she moved to Texas to be near me. She lived with me and we got married within the year having never been on a date prior to the wedding.

Now of course we've been on plenty of "dates" afterwards but those don't count in my book as I'm not really trying to accomplish anything outside of the obvious ;).

Well that answers all of my questions! Thanks for clearing up my confusion.

RightOn: Phantom Owns. I was a Euph in BD in 2004.
