» What Is It You Can't Imagine Your Daily Life Without?  ...  Last Reply: 7 months ago by Tyme.

My books.

I can live without the macbook, without TV, without people (sadly) if I have my books. Whenever I watch a home makeover show, and the designer convinces the homeowner to let go of most of their books, I get so sad. I'm always thinking "get rid of the TV instead!"

» What is your ringtone?  ...  Last Reply: 10 months ago by Clarkey.

Mine is the chorus to "Black Mamba" by the Academy Is... :

Pick it up pick it up it's what you wanted
Pick it up pick it up and you need it too

Of course, that's not the part of the song I was thinking of when I bought the ringtone without listening to it first, but it's hilarious as a ringtone.

actually, a dent on the can means that the bacteria is in it. dents and bulges are caused by the bacteria, not the other way around.

unless the dent is because someone dropped it. then you're still good.

(and omg, food safety certification + nutrition class means i know more than i want to about food borne illnesses)

» The Perfect Age  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by BubbleGum.

i dunno... i've liked every age i've been. it's easier to list of years i wouldn't want to repeat than pick a year that would be awesome.

and for the record, 4 would be awesome. you can talk, you get to eat kid's food all the time, and no school at all. and since i could read at 4, i still get to have my books :)

» Choosing a middle name  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by roro.

Around here, everyone gets the middle name Marie. No matter what your middle name is ;)

But I do think Marie would work, but I'm also a big fan of the family route. Look at the first and middle names of your sisters, mothers, grandmothers, aunts, etc.

Someone will have a name that fits. Twice as good if it's a name that is consistantly passed down through the generations.

» Keeping it interesting  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Kamigoroshi.

Omg Erin! Wary of the comfort zone!

My friends tease me because Dustin and I are so comfortable, that we're on a schedule. After 5 years, everything is repetative, and it doesn't feel like a relationship at all.

(And you know how I'mma toss it up in August. We'll see how that goes.)

» Love vs. Fairytale  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Gnorb.

Each time you fall in love, its different.

No, it won't feel like the first one, but I think it gets better each time. Because with every relationship you walk away from, you know something you didn't before, and it colors your future.

Falling in love the second time was better than the first, because it taught me that the first wasn't really real. I can't imagine what the third one will feel like, but I bet it'll be amazing.

And for the record, at 24, still no "fairytale love." Yes, I believe in it, but I haven't experianced it yet. I think fairytale love takes years to hit you. So, my grandparents had it, and hopefully one day I will too.

» What do you do with the exes?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Kamigoroshi.

I've only got two "real" ex's, and I don't have contact with either of them, although I do talk to the older ex's brothers. Because he's got seven of them. Lucky for me, the ex is in Utah, so my being friendly with the brothers doesn't cause problems.

The newer ex, I tried to be friends with about six months after the breakup. Turns out he thought we were going to get back together, and started insulting me when I started dating someone new. I haven't talked to him in... five years now? And I don't feel like I want to. I get enough random updates on his life from other people to know I'm better for not being with him.

Of course, on the flipside, I may possibly be the only girl who wants her boyfriend to be friendly with his ex. Course, they have a son, so it makes sense, but after five years, he can barely talk civil to her, and I'm the one that makes him call, other wise he'd just as soon not, and then never see his son.

I don't know what will happen when the current BF becomes the ex (which will be in T-minus 3 months now). We've decided it's better for us to take some time apart when I go away for college, and then decide when I'm done if we're done or if we should give it another go. I'd like to think we'll stay friendly, but I know things don't always work out the way we want.

» Dreams  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by dreamweaver.

I have been told by many, many people that I have extremely weird dreams. And I hate waking up in the middle of good ones.

I do think they're trying to tell us something, even if it seems like they are just random scenes that flash through us.

Oh, and random fact about my ex: he used to talk in his sleep and be coherent enough to answer questions while asleep, if you started asking after he'd started talking.

I'd ask him questions about his dreams, and it turned out he was dreaming about Everquest (back in the day when it was uber popular). But he wasn't dreaming about being in the world--which even I've done--but he was dreaming about sitting in front of the computer playing.

It was quite possibly the lamest thing ever.

Favorite Candy

Food Community — Posted: Apr. 27, 2007  ...   Last By: cappuccino @ 1 year ago

My boss just took the office out to lunch this afternoon, and directly across from the restaurant in in Old Sacramento was Candy Heaven, one of three candy stores down there. So of course we went in.

We talked about our favorite candy, because this place had everything--even the "fear factor candy" with bugs in it.

What's your favorite candy that you just can't turn down?

Mine is Necco wafers (which extends to conversation hearts) and Atomic Fireballs. I just can't turn down a fireball.

» Weekend Plans (April 27, 2007)  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by AnneHelmond.

Aside from lame house chores, I've got to write a 6+ page research paper for my American Lit class that's due on Monday.

It's only been assigned all semester, and of course I haven't started it yet.

» It Sounds Weird, But It's So GOOD!  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by TheCook.

Teddygrams dipped in ketchup. My god, it was the only way we'd eat in in elementary school.

And apparently peanutbutter and lettuce sandwitches aren't that common, even though they tast just like peanutbutter on celery.

And yay! for other people liking Mircle Whip. It's the only form of mayo I can stomach on a sandwich.

» I'd Hate to Die Before...  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by DavidBB.

There isn't one thing that I want to see before I die, and it's not that I want to live forever...

It's just that I want to live forever. I want to see what next. I want to see what we come up with to top computers, and flying cars, and robots that make it so humans do absolutely nothing but chat online all day.

I want to see how the whole thing ends. That's really it. I'm quite okay with dying, but oh man, to see what we come up with next.

» The Rain  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by clicknathan.

I love rain, except last year when I rained for nearly the entire month of March. By the end, I was sick of it.

It hasn't rained too much here this spring, and I miss the rain. Of course, I've got some sorta curse on me that if I'm going to drive 99 from Bakersfield to Sacramento, it's going to rain no matter what, so Saturday was pretty nice.

» What's the worst pickup line you have heard (or said)?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by roro.

A friend of a friend has a small son named Jackson. And the only think I could think of was the built-in pickup line he'd use when he was older.

"How 'bout a trip to Jacksonville?"

Cracked myself up every time.

» Is it wrong to alert the police of death threat comments on your blog?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by lisa.

It doesn't matter where they are. A threat is a threat. You should notify the police. After all, people travel, and who knows if this person isn't the type who would go long distance to hurt you.

Better to call the police, and let them take it from there.

» The 24th Year  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by xine.

I thought you were older too.

But that could be because I hate that I seem to be older than everyone else around me lately. I'm not looking forward to this birthday (25), because it just reiterates to me how much older I am than the "average" college student.

But, happy birthday! 24 is so much more fun than 23. Because no one likes you when you're 23, or so Blink-182 would have you believe.

» You know you do...  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by RightOn.

No porn... but that's because I depend on the boyfriend for all my needs ;) No, seriously, he's got a stack of DVD's that totally dwarf his non-porn collection. If I need something, I just borrow it from him

Besides, I'd rather watch it with him, if you know what I mean ;)

» I'm on a Mission  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Rich.

Omg. I would totally use the RichiWiki.

But I really like the idea of a blog + wiki. You could use the wiki to amass the information, and then write up a post on what you learned. And then people could contribute what they know to the wiki, and you would be responsible for what you know.

Oh oh oh. And people could request research topics, so that you could get a whole community into researching something, and then give it a deadline of when you want to do the blog post by.

» Favorite Book of All Time?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by LorriM.

Good Omen by Neil Gaiman and Terry Goodkind. The funniest book on the apocolypse ever written. And British to boot.

If you want classics (and you know you've already eliminated my favorite book ever for being to popular), you've got Metamorphosis, by Kafka, and Metamorphosis by Ovid.

And of course, whatever I get published in the future. :p

» Engagement Rings for Men  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Lila.

Beancounter: i hardly ever see married women wearing two rings after marrage. Maybe it's just where I live. Hm.

Anyway, and engagement rings for guys do abound in my little neck of the woods. In fact, on of my friends used his engagement ring as his wedding ring. As in, it's the only ring he's got, and she gave it to him when they got engaged, and then he used it in the ceremony.

» Hottest Exhibitionist Story =)  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Summer1002.

Well.. it's not my story, but one time I saw a girl giving head to a guy in his car at 5pm on one of the busiest streets in Sacrament.

I only noticed because I was walking to the bus, and they were stopped at a red light. And really, when a guy makes that face, it's not hard to guess what's going on.

Dear Dad,

Please don't say you're thinking about buying a house in Chico for me to rent from you if you're really not. I'm stressed out enough as it is because Chico State has yet to let me know I'm really going to be attending there next fall, even though the admissions officer told me last November she was looking forward to my attendence.

It's really not nice of you to jerk me around like this. You know I'm broke and don't own a car. You know how terribly hard it is to find a place to live when you don't currently live there. And you yourself know how hard it is to find a place in Chico to live, since you lived there yourself back when you were pretending to go to Chico State.

Also, I'm tired of you hating on my dog. I realise she is just a little to emo for you. That she cowers when you're in the room, and will pee in my room to avoid walking past you. Don't be surprised. I felt the same way about you when I was little.

So stop saying I need to find a place for my dog when I go to Chico in the fall. Either buy me a house to live in, or plan on keeping her, like you promised way back when you bought her for me.

I don't care which. But, if you're not serious about buying a house in Chico, stop torturing me by bringing it up. It's just more stress that I really don't need.

Sincerely,
Your favorite daughter.

» What is in your handbag/wallet?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by ericwindham.

In what we affectionately refer to as the "Mary Poppins Bag":

  • Wallet (with requisite wallet stuff including credit/library/blockbuster/atm cards. But no cash)
  • Digital Camera
  • Nintendo DS Lite
  • Game case w/ four extra games
  • Sunglasses
  • Novel-in-progress
  • Check Book
  • Eyeglass wipes
  • Pens
  • Mini Notebook
  • Gum

And my friend's purse is nearly identical to this. So we're nearly always ready for anything. Or any wait.

Bad Habits

Personal Community — Posted: Feb. 14, 2007  ...   Last By: fray @ 1 year ago

What's the worst bad habit you have, that you would like to wake up one morning without?

For me, it's procrastination. I would love to wake up one morning and be a "go-getter," but I don't see that happening without serious intervention. It's just so easy to not do anything until the last minute.

(And yes I'm procrastinating right now... I should be studying for a Biology test.)
