Mine's red as well, but it's so worn that I actually sit on a pillow tied to the backbone of the chair :D

I have two piercings on my right ear, and one on my left. The person who made the piercings the first time didn't get it parallel on both ears, that's why :D
(1) Tear open the 3-in1 sachet.
(2) pour content into cup.
(3) Add hot water.
LOL.
@touqen: Of course you may use it, Stephen! :) And let us know when it's done so that we could go see it, OK?
My (given) name is Pelf Nyok. Everybody calls me Pelf. I maintain a personal blog at pelf-ism is contagious, and I write about charity, conservation and volunteerism at The Giving Hands. I am in the middle of reviving my turtle blog, hence the URL will only be revealed later, LOL.
I am currently writing up my thesis for my Master of Science in Conservation Biology. Simply put, I raised a species of critically-endangered freshwater turtles, called the river terrapins, as soon as they have hatched. And I run feeding trials on them to determine the best methods for rearing them in captivity.
And once a year, I assist my Supervisor organize a release event called Terrapin Independence Day (2006, 2007) where we release some of the terrapins that I've raised, in an attempt to see how well they fare in the river. Besides releasing terrapins, we also put up exhibitions to educate the local villagers on the importance of conserving one of the Top 25 most endangered freshwater turtles.
Opps..
I know I'm supposed to talk about MYSELF but I have an A to Z About Me page and I'd like to invite you guys over! (I also have a picture of my pretty face in there, go see!)
I'm also one of those who don't feel naked without applying lipstick (perhaps it's because I haven't found a colour I really LOVE). In fact, I feel naked without applying body lotion after a shower before going outdoors! :)
My relationship with my Mum has greatly improved compared to those days when I was still in school. I used to be afraid of her because she brought my sister and I up very strictly. But as I grow up, I see my Mum more of a best friend than a parent.
I am no longer afraid of her because I don't have to ask her permission for most of the things that I do today, so I'm not worried that she would say "NO". But most importantly, she has become the person I want to grow up to be.
As for my father.. Let's just say that his leaving us more than a decade ago has made me who am I today. A better person, that is.
And our relationship today? Purely father-daughter relationship, with no strong feelings in between on my side, LOL.
Happy Happy Burfday!
May all your burfday wishes come true :)
I share a 3-room house with my housemates who are also students in the same university, and during the 3-month semester break, they go home to their respective hometowns and I get to stay along for 3-straight-months.
With that being said, I'd prefer living with somebody anytime. I want to talk to people when I get home from the university. I want to watch TV with somebody. I just like the feeling of knowing somebody is at home once I get home.
And I guess it pretty much stems from the fact that my sister and I were latchkey kids during our childhood. After school, we'd go home to an empty house, reheat our lunch and wait for Mum to return home.
Or perhaps I'm a communicator. Put me in a house all by myself, take away my mobile and computer and I'd tear all my hair out.
A day when...
animals stop becoming extinct.
Scrivs:
Pelf and Pelf. What's the age difference between you and your sister because if it was close that would drive me insane.
We are 4 years apart. And we have driven our friends insane when we were still in (high)school!
For a relationship to work, it takes more than just looking at how many years one party is older than the other. Some people mature faster than their age. For example, says who a 25-year-old girl who has gone through a lot of hardships (hence is more matured) cannot be with a 33-year-old man?
My ex was less than a month older than me, and when we were dating, I felt like I was his elder sister more than his girlfriend. He has been shielded and protected by his parents since small, but I, on the other hand, had to figure out a lot of things by the time I was 12.
But then like cooper said:
Besides you shouldn't be dating at 13, you should be discovering what you are good at and you should be trying to get better at it.
And I can't agree more! :)
My weekend isn't the same as your weekend. My weekend falls on Friday and Saturday, instead of Saturday and Sunday like the rest of the world :)
So what does the weekend mean to me?
- It's time to do my week-long laundry.
- It's time to do some housechorese.g. sweep, mop, clean, wash, brush
- It's time to worry about lunch and dinner (because most shops are closed on weekends, and I can't cook)
- It's time to look forward to Sunday
Oh my, this sounds so very pathetic, no?
My teenage years isn't something to shout about.
I wasn't the smartest kid in school (in fact, I failed Math more times than I bothered to count). I wasn't the most popular girl in school either and I did not receive gifts and cards from boys in other schools, what with the glasses and mal-aligned teeth (that has since been fixed). I wasn't the teachers' pet because I wasn't a bright student. And I wasn't the students' pet either because I was a strict prefect. And I didn't get invited to parties, probably because my "friends" knew that I couldn't afford to buy a birthday present.
I told a lot of lies, especially those concerning my family because I was young and I didn't know how to tell my friends that my parents were separated. I wasn't comfortable with that myself, so how could I be comfortable telling my friends about it? Plus, I thought they wouldn't even understand because they all grew up in happy families and big houses, and my Mum, sister and I had to squat at my aunt's house for a few years.
But I'm glad I survived it all.
My avatar shows my face because I think I'm pretty.
Just kidding!
Seriously, it's a cropped picture of me because I lack the imagination to think of other more suitable avatar, and I lack the creativity to design one *gulps*
My boyfriend has been working (on a contract basis) in another state for 4 months now, and during these four months, I've done pretty much everything by myself, including lunch (sometimes you just can't find people to go out for lunch with, dinner isn't that difficult).
My friends find it weird that I actually do not mind having lunch by myself, but I'm surprised. I mean, what's wrong with having lunch by yourself?! *shrugs*
Thank God nobody really asks me when I'm getting married, except for nosy friends, whom I can still handle :)
I know this is weird, but in public, I'd like tea, whereas at home, I'd prefer coffee. I don't have an explanation for this, I just happened to realize that I "function" this way :)
Congratulations, and may you both live happily ever after! :)
LOREAL White Perfect Night Cream.
VAIN, I know, LOL..
This may sound normal to some people but not to me. I ate fried maggots.
I'm Pelf, and my sister is also Pelf, but luckily there are only two of us :)
I believed in Santa Claus too! Until my Mum left the wrapping paper on the table in the living room! LOL.
But my favourite memories would have to be those spent with my Grandpa because I was (still am) his eldest grand-daughter and I was (still am) a good and obedient child so I was always taken to places, and given presents and ca$h (encouragements to do better in kindergarten/school).
Aww.. I love my Grandpa :)
Woo-hoo! Happy Happy Burfday and may all your birthday wishes come true :)
I am a morning person! I'm most productive in the mornings, somewhere between 7am and lunch time. After lunch time, I'll slack a little, and I am completely unproductive after dinner time..
You struck lottery.
You got a new job or a big business deal.
You bought a new car.
You're getting married.
Err.. What else..? LOL.
To my boyfriend, LOL.
@CarsonClay: I've seen some people mention it above (default tabs), but I think it means having multiple tabs open every time I launch a new FF window. Is this possible? Am I getting this correctly? :)
OK. I'm going to sound like a fool here, but how does one set default tabs in FireFox? *blushes*
I wish I were more prepared for the Blogathon.. I'm getting butterflies in my stomach already..
I've never tried looking for my ex-boyfriend on Facebook or any other sites, in fact, I haven't spoken to him since we separated, about 6 years ago..
I give my boyfriend surprises whenever I can, because my ex treated me so, and I love the feeling.. I love surprises too, but my boyfriend is more of a practical person, not one who is full of surprises..
But it makes my day whenever he says that he's touched with whatever small surprises I put up for him..
@auburn: Very good question there! I was wondering about the same thing..
I'd love to think that marriage is a beautiful thing, but having grown up in a single-parent family, and having been cheated by my boyfriend makes me commitment-phobic..
Yet I do look forward to being proposed to, though I'm not quite sure I'd say YES..
Is something wrong with me?! AARGHH..
My eating habits is always better whenever my boyfriend is around -- he makes sure we eat our meals at the correct time, and that we don't skip meals unnecessarily. But whenever he's not around, I find myself without food for long hours and don't feel like I'm dying or something..
Weird, huh?
I can't remember the last time I had breakfasts! Awww.. There goes a "good eating habit"..

I find it funny when you say "thrown up into the air" and I'm afraid it gives other people the impression that "we throw our food during CNY," LOL.
We just toss them with our chopsticks, no? :)
