I'm sitting on the sand right now, on this awesome beach I always come to. Puerto Viejo in Costa Rica. I love it here, perhaps because we have a sweet wifi network on the entire beach. Anyhow, I've only been to beaches in Costa Rica, I've traveled but never went to the beach in any of the other countries I've been in.
What about you? What's your favourite beach, where is it? If you've traveled, have you been to any beaches there?.

There is this tiny town in South Australia called Whyalla. The bay is shaped in such a way that means the main beach has no real waves, and the water is knee-deep even when you're 500m out. I'm not a huge fan of big waves so it's the sort of beach I like. Has a bunch of huge blue crabs that pop up out fo the sand as well. Kinda scarey, but I hear they're kinda tasty too.
Living in Sydney though, most beaches just don't seem that special =P

My favorite beach has to be Mulegue (too lazy to put in the accent) in Baja California. It's home of the cleanest bay in the world and sits outside a nice little town.
As far as what beaches... I've been to pretty much every beach from Oregon down to Ensenada on the Pacific side, and then from San Felipe to Mulegue on the sea of cortez. I've also seen two or three beaches in Costa Rica (even Puerto Viejo). Craziest shit I've ever seen, hands down. Hopefully someday soon I'll be able to come back and see them again. Wifi on the beach sounds like I'd never leave the beach.

Mine would have to be Phi Phi beach in Thailand. More famous for where the 'Beach' was filmed.

Boracay island in the Philippines has the most beautiful beach I've ever been to (and I've been to a decent amount). The main beach is basically a 4km stretch of pure white powder sand (it's so soft its unbelievable) and the bluest water. It's absolutely perfect.

I've heard Cable Beach in Broome (North West Australia) is one of the best.

As anyone reading this so far would see already that it is quite tough for us Aussies to name just one beach because we are blessed with having so many wonderful beaches. I'll just name four that are within 90 minutes drive from where I live that I visit at least evey couple of weeks. Surfers Paradise, Burleigh, Rainbow Bay/Greenmount and Byron Bay.

Damn, I'm gonna have to visit AUS sooner that I had planned. Sounds like an awesome place to have fun in.

My all-time favourite beaches would have to be Ke'e beach at the northern tip of Kauai (fabulous snorkeling, crystal-clear water, and gorgeous setting) and Kapalua Bay (again, fabulous snorkeling) on the west end of Maui.
At home (Victoria BC), there is an abundance of beaches (I live five minutes away from at least two), but none are particularly outstanding.

Many so I am not going to list them, probably the best were....
I lived in Australia a couple times when younger so quite a few there, they are all so grand but I have not been to Australis since I was fourteen. ;(
My favorites here Jaco in Costa Rica and the other beaches which kind sprawl up and down from it.
For beauty and great surf Sandy beach on Oahu great for body boarding if you are really good, at the time I was there is absolutely took all I had to get in and out twice, the beaches north around Turtle Bay and the Pipeline are also gorgeous.
Maui beaches were more my speed I can't remember the beach we surfed on seen I was technically not on vacation and was helping a friend with a film but it was north of Wailea, we also sailed out to some crater to snorkel which was so so pretty.

my favorite beaches would be the ones in koh tarutao national marine park on the west coast in thailand near the malaysian border. get a fisherman from koh lipe to drop you off at any beach in the park and pick you up a few hours later. it's just gorgeous there and it has some great snorkling.

Sardinia has some absolutely gorgeous beaches and the sea off these beaches is like nowhere else on earth. Forget about any tropical island you may have in mind the sea here is far more beautiful and the beaches are the equal of any.
