Sometimes you just have a bad day at work and go get some Chipotle like I do.

Sometimes you're in a slump and the only person who can show you the positive side to life is your significant other.

Other times you just want to feel happy so you listen to some music.

What is it you guys do?

I find self-rewards like you mentioned with chipotle work rather well. Not only do they help your mood improve, but they give you a bit of a goal to strive for through a rough day.

Me, after a rough day I'll plan a good dinner, or break out some of the good liquor. It's better if I can get together with some friends and have a cold martini while we forget about the troubles of the day.

vagina mostly.

I agree with Mr. Mathias

To coin an old overused phrase.

Sex, drugs and rock and roll.

Really.

To coin a 100% geeky phrase:

Video games, and Futurama.

Really, really. ;)

music and games.. make me happy always..

vagina mostly

Prime example of "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus." Sheesh.

When I've had a bad day, it's Don't. Touch. Me. unless you want to lose a hand!

I'd rather go for a drive in my car and hear my favorite pick me up tunes, at very loud volumes!

OR a prime example of comedy gone awry?

I was really just kidding, I mean I heart vagina and all, but I was joking about it being the one thing that cheers me up.

I find reading helps my mental badness resolve itself, that or watching a mind numbing action or horror flick.

LOL KUDOS j-mathias.... i found it to be funny. i guess some poeple are just prudes.

I find that a little physical contact cheers me up. But since i am single and that is not always available, i turn to long bubble baths and watching "The Office" while sucking down a brew and painting my toe nails.

Also, if im feeling ugly, which also means i am not cheery, i like to do my hair, make my blue eyes look sexy with some smokey eye makeup, and throw on a pair of stilettos and butt jeans. That always makes me feel better.

I also like to write about whatever is upsetting me, and have a good cry. Nothing relieves stress like a good stream of tears.

AND, lol, i also call up my best girlfriend Liz, being with her makes me feel like everything is going to be ok.

Ok, im done.

Well, j-mathias, sorry to say that I've known men for whom that was absolutely true, so from my point of view, you could have very well been completely serious on that. If you'd added a winky emoticon, I'd have known you were kidding. That's how it is in forum situations, I'm afraid...I was giving my opposite point of view, that's all, not being prudish; if I was being prudish, I would not have answered at all. *shrug*

I have to admit getting my desk and office sorted today cheered me right up. I feel both professional and energised about it.

After a standard bad day I come home, get into my PJ's, curl up on my chair with a cup of tea (or wine if the day was truly awful), and read a book or watch a DVD. Nothing special, but it works for me.

Other than that, writing out all the pent up frustration is a weapon of choice.

For truly appalling days, the only choice is for me to go round my girlfriend illyna's house, get her to make me a large pot of tea, tell me it's all going to be ok, then have her take me out for a night of insane dancing and drunken debauchery.

It's the simple things that work best ;)

There's arent too many days where I say to myself "that was the suckiest day of my life" but when those instances occur, go workout, shopping, drinking (usually all three not necessarily in that order). and swearing of course, LOTS of swearing.

Blogging and letting out some thoughts usually helps out a lot. I'm usually able to get words out on my personal blog a lot more than talking to anyone.

Also, maybe playing hours of video games with my phone turned off is cool, because sometimes I just don't feel like talking to people.

Oh and cocktails never hurt either.

Sushi, gin and men who play stringed instruments.

Dark chocolate. Or, secondarily, riding my bike.

All of these cheer me up when I'm feeling poopie -

Riding my horse
Playing DDR
Chilling with a good book with the dog cuddled next to me

If it's been a really bad day, a little whining to the hubby always makes me feel better.

Forgot to mention music.....definitely good music.

Bass. The stringed or percussion variety.

Sunlight... it sounds corny but I work indoors with no windows and florescent bulbs. sometimes all it takes to lift my mood is some exposure to natural light.

My mama, has a really cool gift of making me laugh at my misery.

Naps.

Music always cheers me up, that and disappearing into the woods. There is nothing more relaxing than getting away from everything up in the mountains.

shopping, sex, and chocolate (in that order)

Music, sex, writing and Wii.

Going for a drive and going to a really cool spot. My favourites are Parliament Hill on Hamstead Heath or the view from the top of Alexandra Palace. (In London, UK)

Or if the moon is out going somewhere and staring at it.

I find sanity and serenity in nature coz I'm on computers all day long!

putumayo and drugs

Hmm, all good answers. I still think James' quick-witted response works.

I wonder if lots of people choose to work out when feeling down. Personally, I sometimes think working out is too much 'work' when I'd rather just stop doing anything and have time to myself.

Hike up the hill behind my house. I don't blog from within that slumped feeling -- it's usually a signal that I'm stuck somehow and so need to do something physical to get unstuck.

Doing anything that involves my boyfriend always cheers me up! ;-)

I think working out is good when it's been a long day. It's a nice way to unwind and release some aggression.
