Today has been a day of new lows for student housing, I'm currently laughing my ass off for the following reasons:
I get a series of letters from the student housing
- The first letter is in reference to our phone lines which have just been connected...we moved into these apartments in OCTOBER.
- The second letter is the announcement of a mandatory meeting that we simply must attend or we will face disciplinary action. Considering this is an apartment complex, not even sanctioned by the school, anyone mind telling me what the f*ck they're going to do to me?
- I get a third letter stating my rent is over due by $585. Not only do I have the receipt right beside me, and a person who was with me when I wrote the check, but my rent doesn't even cost $585. I signed the lease back in April, getting me an early bird special, lowering my lease by $200 to $385.
I'm also laughing at the student housing having read something in the newspaper. Clemson University is a big national school, this past football season finishing 3rd in the ACC or SEC, whatever they are in. We have a total of 321 students living on campus. They have 5000. Since the beginning of 2007, we've had 6 students kicked out, and over 17 arrested. Since the academic school year began in August of 2006, Clemson had only ONE student ARRESTED for disorderly conduct.
Why were kids here arrested? Drug trafficking. I am SO moving the fuck out of here.

re: disciplinary action - there's this "co-op" student housing (not associated with University), where the rent is lowered via getting students to perform chores (like cleaning up after themselves in common areas, and attending meetings), and fining them for.. not. Umm... yeah, good call on moving out.
