Suicide machine or not, I just bought my first motorcycle. I don't have my license yet, but I'm in the process. Probably will be a couple more months before I actually start riding it a lot because I've got to take the motorcycle safety course.
Anyone else ride a bike?

Yes, those are very important questions. I rode a lot of dirt bikes growing up, but I am vehicleless now. There's a little Honda cycle in my neighborhood that I fantasize about stealing and riding across the United States.

What a cute bike. Here's an actual fan site for the bike, for those of you who aren't as awesome of googlers as Lila Gray:

Yes, I totally talked about myself in third person. Yikes.
My mom is a Harley woman, really. And my dad has a Yamaha Virago, which is a comfortablel cruiser. There's nothing quite like being dropped off for school on a motorcycle. Even better? Arriving for church on a bike, all dressed up.

Being a pastor, I fully intend on doing just that from time to time ;).
It's a great starter bike, from what I've read. Since I've never owned a bike before I thought I start small and work my way up if I really like it.
BTW, of all the photos on that site the one I'm getting looks most like this one except in cherry red instead of black.

That looks like a nice bike. I don't have one but I secretly want one. Crazy drivers here and the crappy weather stopped me from getting one. Maybe one day...
Love it! :)

Of course the second I get my hands on one of those the straight pipes are GONE and it's getting hacked up and rebuilt. :)
I don't like default anything.

Have to get my hands on a decent welder first... I'm virtually tool-less at the moment as I'm not out of college and away from my endless supply of 'state owned' tools :)
Anyone wanna donate a few thousand to my tool budget?

Same here. I live in atlanta, and there's no way I'm riding a crotch rocket on these highways. Maybe when I'm old and ready to... you know... "go"...

Yes, I grew up riding them. I bought my 2001 Suzuki TL1000R (V-twin crotchrocket) last year.

Ben, you're making me jealous. I've wanted to get a bike for a long time. I should have gotten one before I got married instead of putting all my extra cash into my truck. Now my wife is pretty adamant against them. One day though.

Ben that is totally awesome, congrats man!
Personally I want a rice rocket but I've been told many times by The Girl that I'm not allowed to buy one so she doesn't have to fear me eating asphalt at 150mph. Oh well.

LOL. Well, there's something of a difference between a 'rice rocket' or a 'crotch rocket' and a cruising bike like I'm getting. My bike isn't built for 80+ mph. It's meant for, well, cruising. So in that sense I'm not going to be eating asphalt at 150mph. Just what kind of a driver are you, Mike? ;)
But I definitely have, _by far_ the coolest wife on earth. At first she was pretty dead set against them. But then we started talking to people in our church who ride. And our pastor just bought a new Suzuki Intruder 800 and loves it. They're really not as dangerous as you are commonly lead to believe. I think the clincher for my wife was two things, well, three.
1. I would take a motorcycle safety course through a private (expensive) company.
2. Gas prices are INSANE and a bike like the one I have regularly gets 50+ mpg.
3. She always liked riding on the back of a bike as passenger and the one I have is a 650 so it'll be able to heft us both around town.
Oh, well, I guess there's 4.
4. We live in a fairly rural area South of Atlanta. I won't have any need to get on the expressways and that's a good thing because like joenewbreed said above ^ the expressways are suicide in a car, let alone on a bike.
Just got the Title today, so it's mine, all mine!

The funny thing is that since my pastor (boss) has a bike and so do several other prominent men in the church, we're all planning to ride together. We're even thinking of starting a biker gang. LOL

Never had a full size motorcycle but I did have a 1965 Vespa VNB that had an engine large enough to require my involvement in a motorcycle class for the permit.
The instructor asked everyone to tell what kind of bike they owned or planned on buying. After hearing about all of the harleys and new sport bikes I was dreading my turn. When I announced what I had, those in the class that knew what a Vespa was started to snicker until the instructor brought up a photo of one on the screen whhich silenced the room. I guess a timeless design offset it's lack of horsepower.
