Just wondering what people's lifestyles are like. What time do you get up and what time do you go to bed?

Me it's usually wake up 6am. Bed at 11pm

Weekdays, the alarm goes off at 6:30. I usually wake up just as it's about to ring, and sometimes turn it off before it has a chance to annoy me. Then I lie there for about half an hour trying to think of ways to bribe myself into an upright position. Sometimes my bladder does this job for me. Good bladder.

At the end of the day, I try to get to bed by midnight. This usually isn't too difficult as I generally can barely keep my eyes open by 11 p.m. but life sometimes gets in the way.

Weekends, I try to sleep in but I usually fail. (I'm typing this at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday and, embarrassingly, I've been up since six.) I do, however, sometimes end up staying up late on the weekends and this fucks with me in ways it never used to when I was, oh, 20 years younger.

As a result, Mondays are a bad scene. Whereas I at one time was able to stay awake 36 hours straight (hallucinating, but still) without any great difficulty, I now will threaten to crush skulls if I'm out even ten minutes of precious hard-earned slumber.

I wish I could say that early mornings were my most productive time of day--but unfortunately the effort to wake up is itself so exhausting that I end up just sitting on the couch staring into space, or responding to posts on 9rules.com.

This may be more information about my lifestyle than you were looking for.

It changes every semester of uni, for me. In first year I had maths every morning at 9am, so I'd have to get up at 7. Now I'm in my 3rd year there is no more maths (yay!) and I only go in to uni 3 days a week. Classes start at 10 or 11 so I can get up at 9 or so.

Days off I usually get up around 11 or midday.

It should be 7 and midnight or thereabouts depending on jobs and stuff, shouldn't it? These days, however, I suffer from major sleep disturbances. I either barely sleep, or sleep for hours on end. In either case I feel more desoriented and drowsy than not. Current wake-up and bedtime hours vary wildly and have included 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. It's messed up, I know, but this weekend has been 'reasonably' regular so far. Fingers crossed.

For added info: I am 'between jobs' right now, I traditionally am very vulnerable to changes in my sleep pattern and I'm single, so nobody gets 'hurt' ;-)

It was 9 or 10am but with puppy it's now 6am and a possible crash for hr or so at 9am if he stops eating walls.

During the work week, my alarm goes off at 6:40, and I struggle out of bed about 7. On the weekends, I love to sleep until I wake up (no alarms! yay!) which is usually 8 or 9.

I go to sleep and wake up at a completely different time every day

I get up at 4:30 am. I go to bed between 10 and 11pm. I usually have most of my work done for the day by 8am and then can spend the rest of the day taking phone calls and meetings without sweating. I own my own ad agency, so my work schedule is what I make it. My wife, on the other hand, works at the pet supply store that we also own, and she gets up at 8:30 in the morning. We tend to go to bed at the same time, I think she just needs more sleep than I do. That's okay, I like my mornings quiet.

And for the record, I'm writing this at 6:42am on Sunday. I've been up since 5. See, I sleep in on weekends! Actually, today's my 1 year wedding anniversary so I thought I'd celebrate by not setting an alarm. Stupid biological clock.

I get up at 7:20am during the week. Usually around 8:30am on the weekend.

During early week I usually get up a bit early, say 7 or 7:30 and am at work by 7:45 or 8. During mid-week I start getting tired and dont' wake up until around 8, so I don't get to work until 8:30 (or 8:45 if I want my caffeine). Weekends, it's usually rare that I'm up before noon.

I'm almost always in bed by midnight/1 though. My body can't decide how much sleep it wants.

I'm usually in bed by ten and up by seven on the weekdays. I'm still dead tired all the time, so I try getting to bed around eight or nine - but I can never manage it. Life just keeps getting in the way. My weekends; I'm usually up until one or two in the morning and still wake up around seven.

I wake up around 9:30 (after pressing snooze a few times) and get to work around 11am. I go to bed around 1am. I am not at all a morning person, and I'm very bad at making myself go to sleep at a good time. Weekends I sleep till 11am or 12, unless I have to be somewhere earlier.

I've never quite managed to make it off of college time, and I've been out of school for 7 years.

"I've never quite managed to make it off of college time, and I've been out of school for 7 years."

@jgrucza: I've been out of college for over 3 years and despite a decidedly non-college work schedule, my inner sleep clock is stuck on college time as well. So, what you're saying is that it doesn't get better?

thank god i live like 15 mins away from work. durring the week i get up @7:30/8 hit the snooze and panic @ about 8:35 when i'm still not up.

That depends what time I go to bed..normally..10am. :)

I wake up on my own at 6am, usually on the dot. Turn over and sleep till 7 when my alarm goes off. Bed is usually about midnight

Up at 7:30am in bed by 1:30am. Full-time developer/husband/stay-at-home dad. In other words, I'm completely insane.

Usually in bed anywhere from 11:30 to 2am (earlier if I'm tired, later if I'm doing lots of work) and wake up around 9;15-9:30am. Sometimes (like today) I'll just sleep in till 11am if I'm extra tired.

Yeah, now that I think about it, I'm still stuck in college time too. Fortunately I'm not entrenched too deeply because I used to stay awake until 4am and then sleep till dinner :)

I've heard that having kids makes you into a morning person - that you have no other choice.

I guess it's weird to me to think of sleeping like I did in college when I'm almost 30. I've always found it really easy to switch schedules on a whim... now that I've decided I like mornings better than evenings, I never hit snooze. I like driving to work when everyone else is dreaming, and dreaming when everyone else is still working. Really, I just like to be different in ways that nobody around me really knows or cares about ;-).

During the week I set the alarm for 7am, unless I have an event to run at work then it's 6.30. Then I lie in bed drinking a cup of tea and reading for 20 minutes. Anyone who has the dubious pleasure of seeing me before those sacred 20 minutes are up knows NOT to engage me in conversation!

I have this really bad habit of turning my alarm clocks off by throwing them across the room, so I now leave the iPod hooked up to some speakers on the other side of the room and use that. It means I have to get out of bed to turn it off, and once I'm out of bed I (rarely) go back to sleep again. Music is also a lot nicer to wake up to (more gradual) than the harsh blaring on an alarm.

Where the weekends are concerned, I sleep till I wake up naturally. It used to be fairly common that I slept till near midday. After eight months of getting up at 7am every weekday I'm now incapable of sleeping past 9am, damn it!

As for going to sleep, I normally start reading about 10.30/11 and stop when I get tired (about 11.30)

Whenever my cat wants me to.
He meows like crazy every morning at the same freakin' time. He's like a rooster, man! No joke.
9am. Every morning. It's like he saying, "Wake up you lazy hag!"
LOL

Kitties. They own ya. They're the boss of you.

Ahhhhh sleeping in......I forgot what thats like.....having KIDS does make you a morning person but not by choice....I really do MISS lounging in bed till noon......

Weekdays 7-7:15 bed.....anytime between 8 and midnight depending on what i'm doing....;)

Well it kind of depends. If I am not working, I don't bother to set my alarm clock. It's not like I really have anything I need to do on those days. It's a day off and I'm not against some time clock. But, if I'm working in the morning, I'll try and wake up at 9a. Sometimes I could really just sleep in. And that's gonna really bite me in the butt because I'm transferring to another store next week and the commute there is going to kill me! Bed time for me is about 10p. Except on Wednesdays I try and watch "Top Chef", but sometimes the meds make me tired and I just can't stay awake.

I wake up at 6am most of the time, because my workplace is quite faraway from home and I have to bear the traffic jam!

I wake up at ~11am, I go to bed at 3-4am.

Most nights I got to bed between 2-5am and wake up anywhere from 7:30am-1:30pm....and yes, that includes weekdays.

My daily routine is weird. I keep reading different blogs and won't go to bed until I'm badly tired. But it's certain that I go to bed in the morning (after 10:00 AM).

I get up around 7 in the morning and, unfortunately, I have never been able to adapt my nighttime activities to my day job. Throughout my adult life I was more successful with things I did in the evening or late at night and I still often do things that way. Not healthy in the long run, but I don't need all that much sleep anyways. :) 4 to 5 hours will often do fine.

I'm usually up around 7. I wish I could get up later, so I can stay up later, I'm more productive late at night or really early in the morning. I don't like sleeping more than 7 hours or else I'll be even more tired.....very weird.

My last comment was a lie, it's more like 10am or 10:30 ;)

6am on week days when i have school... on other days when ever the fuck i feel like, ha

The times are various and never structured. Usually boredom will cause me to go to bed early. But, most often, when my head is hitting the keyboard, I tend to think my body is trying to tell me something.

I'm with SkeptiC on the times varying, but I try my best to do between 9am-11am and that totally depends on what occurred the night before (duh!), but since I was sick today I went to bed between 3am-4am and didnt get up till 2pm and now my phone just rang so Im up at 4am...gaaaaaaaah.

I pretty much go to sleep and wake up when I want to (or when my body tells me it is time).

I don't keep a set schedule for sleeping and I don't use an alarm clock.

I should probably do both. :)

I'm with JPhill - the longer I sleep, the more tired I am when I do get up...sucks huh?

omg thats so funny I just read jgrucza post and I said like the exact same thing but hadnt read his/hers yet....:)

Yeah I've gotten used it it. Plus the more you sleep, the less productive you are!

"I've heard that having kids makes you into a morning person - that you have no other choice."

I can vouch for that one. When my toddler wakes up the whole house wakes up. Thankfully he still lets me sleep while we watch morning cartoons in the lazyboy.

I would prefer to get up around 6 am but unfortunately I usually go to bed around this time. I did my bachelors in Bremen/ Germany, during the winter sun sets around 4 pm there. Things get quite hectic when you try to double major in computer science and math, at one point i remember waking up right before sun would go down. I call it my night semester...

M - F 6AM - 11 PM
Su 9 AM - 10 PM

Usually just after I finish sleeping.
