Do you consider yourself a morning person or a night owl?

Because of my lifestyle, I am a night owl.. I work strange hours. Most of the time I won't go to bed until after midnight. Sometimes it's 2a, but sometimes on a rare occasion it's before.
Does your lifestyle hinder when you sleep?

highschool i could got 2 days without sleeping more then 2-3 hours, now unless i'm doing something that allows me to ignore the time, i'm done once it gets around midnight. also having to get up in the morning for work really kills the chances of really staying up.

It's 2:20a on the EC and I'm still awake.
I don't/can't afford to be a night owl right now!!! I work soon :(

I sleep at 3am usually and get up at about 8-10 am, depending on what I have to do.
I work best at night though. Never much of a morning person.

I am a morning person! I'm most productive in the mornings, somewhere between 7am and lunch time. After lunch time, I'll slack a little, and I am completely unproductive after dinner time..

I feel most energetic and creative as a morning person! It has become a family joke of sorts that I start yawning around 9:30 pm and do laundry, make lists, read the newspaper and weed the garden at 5 am!

Ask the neighbours, who keep complaining of an odd, rather gruff, hooting sound coming from my house.

I work a graveyard shift(7pm-7am) so I am a night person. Entirely by choice too, it is far to hot in Phoenix to be up all day =P

Is it possible to be both? I guess so, I stay up late and get up early. Had sleeping problems ever since my Mom passed. 3-4 hours, tops. Insomnia defined!

“I am an early bird and a night owl, so I’m wise and I have worms”, - Michael Scott/Steve Carell from the office. I am a night owl, I hate the morning.

I'm a complete morning person. It doesn't matter what time I go to bed, I'm up (without an alarm) between 5:30 and 6:30 in the morning. I usually laze around for an hour or so, then I get to work. After 4 or 5PM, I'm done because there's a steady and obvious decline in the quality of anything I write (ditto for the very early mornings, i.e. Before Caffeine).
I go to bed early. Like old lady early. Last night, I think I was unconscious by 9PM. Although, in my defense, I've been waking up everyday this week around 3 or 3:30. I usually go to bed around 10 or 11.

I think I'm both. I like being up late when no one else is really awake, that's when I'm pretty productive. At the same time, I also like being up in the early morning because it's quiet and I focus really well early in the mornings. I don't really need more than 5-6 hours of sleep, so I like being up both late at night and early in the morning.

I think I got two hours of sleep. I'm running on empty. This is not good. At least today I'd rather choose to be a morning person and get this crap over with today so maybe I can go to bed at a decent hour. But with what everyone is saying, I guess you can be both. Sometimes wanna be up in the morning, but other times be up late at night. I think one or the other can bite you in the bum... but, nobody likes 8a on a Monday.

I refuse to acknowledge morning exists.
Night Owl to the extreme.

Total night raven. It's rare that I go to sleep before 2-3am. Knowing the city's asleep calms me, plus I seem to be infinitely more creative at night. I'm sure others share that characteristic.

Sometimes my days/nights get turned around but I'm more day than night. I can stay up late but due to the responsibilities I have I am more productive during the day than at night.

Total night owl.
I go to bed @ 2-3AM
I still pull all nighters sometimes and will pull 48 hour shifts with no sleep to get an illustration done or a website finished.

@ hthth I'm right there with you. I love to sit out on my balcony at night and listen to the sleeping city. It's so peaceful and calm. I'm more creative at night as well. My mind is more open and creative.

Night owl, but market hours definitely push me towards "morning person." Sometimes I stretch it too thin. :P

Night owl. I'd prefer to be a morning person (mostly during the summer/spring) though. I just can't break the habit.

@ auburn- It's funny how we could both have night owls for children, but be complete morning people ourselves.

Depends. I thrive on personal interraction. SO in my private life, I love the shank of the day.
In my work life, however, I love it when it's quiet - when my wife and kids are in bed - especially on the weekends. I love to work at 5:00 AM and at 11:00 PM. That's when I have the most uninterrupted time to concentrate and accomplish things. I also get my second wind around 11:00 PM - if I make it up past that time, look out! You never know what's going to happen.

You're a night owl if you're awake UNTIL the morning. That does not make you a morning person. ;-)
