Jeans - Do I have too many?

In true Jeremy Clarkson style, I noticed that I seemed to have more pairs of jeans in my wardrobe then I could account for.
On counting, it appears that I have 14 pairs of denim jeans... is this normal for one man to have enough jeans to wear a new pair every day for a fortnight?

I, personally, think that you can never have too many pairs of jeans. I have about 10 pairs myself.

JPhill is truthin'. I have about 9 pairs. If I'm not at work, I'm in jeans.

I don't think you can ever have enough pairs of jeans to wear, whether you are a man or a woman. I have 16 pairs.

I have at least 15... 6 pairs that fit and ~10 that I've got put away in hopes that they will soon fit again. I wear jeans every day.

I have no pairs of jeans. None.
I do, however, have 6 pairs of three-quarter-length short-trousers, which are always nice. I'm a tree-hugging hippy. Sue me.

I think I have about 7 pairs, but only 1 that I actually wear. I'm normally lounging with shorts and flip flops.

i have about 7-8 pairs but since i've been losing weight the bitches don't fit anymore, so now i need to buy more. its a vicious cycle.

I have 5 or 6 that I wear often. Every time I go shopping I buy more, though, and then feel like my old ones are trendy enough anymore. So I really have close to a dozen pairs, I just think most of them look dumb.

I only have one pair of jeans.
I mostly wear skirts and I wear dress pants to work and with how hot it has been in DC, casual Fridays are something of a joke.

Holy crap.
Seriously? 14, 10, 8-9 pairs of jeans? Do you just hate doing laundry?
Ha!

Erm, maybe I need therapy then. Currently:
17, but then I do live in jeans pretty much 24/7.

I think you only have too many jeans when you stop wearing some pairs. Until then, continue to stock up if you see a pair that you like.

I have 3 or 4, but ended up with 1 as being a favourite and really just wear those.
Hey Ollie, are Levis really that great? I'm not picky when it comes to clothes in general, so I've never really compared jeans, or really compared brands at all.

Levis are the original and remain the most durable, in my opinion.

Out of the 16 pairs that I own, 11 are Levis, the rest are varied brands. I have always been partial to Levis. They are my favorite as far as comfort and durability.

I tend to buy designer jeans. My newest pair is from express. they look so nice.

When I find anything at all that fits me well and is comfortable, I tend to get many of the same. At work, I need to 'dress the part' of a certain non-verbal message to parents, students and agencies so jeans are out but it depends mightily on the setting of your work and the specific field you're in. Some fields are supportive of so much more creativity.

Only one of mine are Levis, and they were pretty cool until they stopped fitting me.

I really only have 3 pairs. I wear shorts and cargos more than jeans. Now ask me how many pairs of BDU's I own and I'll blow your mind.

I am down to about six or seven pairs. I dress in a suit for work most of the time no jeans so I haven't purchased any in some time. It is summer so I rarely wear long when not at work.

Wow- I didn't expect so many people to find this interesting enough to comment! I think I'm going to like it here.
Looks like a few people have more than me, so that’s ok. Working in telly, everyone wears jeans, only the newsreaders wear anything smart. I stopped buying Levis after I had a pair that went purple just above the knees...

I've never had a problem with Levis changing color, WilcosWorld. How weird.

Ditto LorriM, I have never had a pair of Levis change colour like that either. Very strange.
I totally recommend Levis, but clothing is such a personal thing it is a pointless task doing so. You should wear what you comfortable in and what you like, be it whatever brand or non-brand. I wear Levis because they fit me (I am slim and short, and the Levis shop will adjust them for free if they don't have my leg length in stock), they are comfortable, and I still own my first pair from 1995. They still fit, still look okay and are still going. Levis are a tad expensive though (~£50), but in my mind thoroughly good value for money.

3, but I don't wear them very often these days. 14 sounds like quite a lot to me, but then I doubt I have that many pairs of trousers in total. I've never owned a pair of Levi's. I'm not interested in fashion. As long as clothes look half decent and are comfortable that's enough for me.

Ollie: If anything, Levis fade, but don't normally change color like that.
BinaryMoon: I haven't purchased my Levis in one given year, but rather over time...several years. It does sound like a lot, but some are quite old. The oldest ones are the most comfortable.

WilcosWorld I have never had a pair of jeans discolor that way. How do you wash yours? I always wait until they're dirty before I wash mine, and wash them inside out in cold water. That holds the color very well.
To the people who are so shocked that some of us own so many pairs — if you care for your denim properly it should last a long time, so that you accumulate many pairs over the years.

I have two pairs. They are the same style (Levi 527) and different colors.

527's rock! When we went to the Levi's store in Seattle I bought some, since all the girls' styles were skinny-fit.

I have 4 pairs of jeans, but I only wear 2 of them. I have tweed pants and some Brady Bunch pants, but I mostly wear skirts. I guess skirts aren't really an option for you boys though. :P

jensized: I am ashamed to say, my girlfriend washes my jeans- and I have no idea how she does it. Needless to say, I didn't blame her for it!
I agree fully with you though, you do accumulate many pairs over the years.

You can never own too many pairs of jeans. I just purchased 4 more pairs to add to my collection.
