A recent article surfacing on a popular social site reminded me of the people-labels introversion and extroversion — personality-type concepts made popular by a Mr. Carl Jung.
I've been aware for a while that the description of an introvert fits me perfectly, and a recent test I found through Gnorb's blog supported that quite well:
- Introverted (I) 86.21% Extroverted (E) 13.79%
- Intuitive (N) 58.97% Sensing (S) 41.03%
- Thinking (T) 73.53% Feeling (F) 26.47%
- Perceiving (P) 54.76% Judging (J) 45.24%
This translates to type INTP, which is described as follows:
INTP - “Architect”. Greatest precision in thought and language. Can readily discern contradictions and inconsistencies. The world exists primarily to be understood. 3.3% of total population.
I'm usually not the one to go for the kind of simple labeling of human beings, but I find this one quite amusing.
Take the test, what's your type?

*heh* thanks for the h/t, hthth.
The answer, as you know, is no. As I mentioned in the article, here are my stats.
Extroverted (E) 60.53% Introverted (I) 39.47%
Intuitive (N) 60.53% Sensing (S) 39.47%
Thinking (T) 55.56% Feeling (F) 44.44%
Perceiving (P) 54.55% Judging (J) 45.45%
This puts me as an ENTP, but just barely. In fact, the first time I took the test I came out as an ENFP, and judging by the proximity of the scores, I'm certainly Extroverted and Intuitive, but I'm on the fence about being Thinking/Feeling, Perceiving/Judging.
Anyway, to restate the answer, the answer's a definite "no". I'm by no means a party person; in fact, I prefer to spend time alone for the most part. But definitely not an introvert.

I've taken this before and I believe have come out the same I remember because I am always hoping to come out differently.
I disagree with the self centered, manipulative part of course. Otherwise it is not far from truth.

Intuitive (N) 59.52% Sensing (S) 40.48%
Thinking (T) 72.97% Feeling (F) 27.03%
Judging (J) 58.82% Perceiving (P) 41.18%

Nope, not an introvert.
I didn't take the test but only because I've taken the Myers-Briggs a few times now. I'd be curious to see if I still measure up so I'll probably take it after I post this note. :)
But I've always been an ENTP (Extroverted, iNtuitive, Thinking, Perceiver). I would have to guess that I am very much on the P side--opposite the Judging side. Indeed, I am very much unstructured. And very disorganized! I have also always been largely extroverted. I know that whether you're introverted or extroverted change up the dominance of your second letter somehow.
Intuitive vs. Sensor, though, have always been very borderline. I've been a good deal more thinking than feeling but I'm starting to think this might be the most dramatic change in recent months.
For the most part, I've usually agreed with the "ENTP" diagnosis. Including something I read once to describe the personality: "May be unable to perform simple tasks." Haha!
So I'll go take the test again now. :)
Edit:
Extroverted (E) 58.97% Introverted (I) 41.03%
Intuitive (N) 57.89% Sensing (S) 42.11%
Thinking (T) 56.76% Feeling (F) 43.24%
Perceiving (P) 59.46% Judging (J) 40.54%
ENTP - "Inventor". Enthusiastic interest in everything and always sensitive to possibilities. Non-conformist and innovative. 3.2% of the total population
risk taker, easy going, outgoing, social, open, rule breaker, thrill seeker, life of the party, comfortable in unfamiliar situations, appreciates strangeness, disorganized, adventurous, talented at presentation, aggressive, attention seeking, experience junky, insensitive, adaptable, not easily offended, messy, carefree, dangerous, fearless, careless, emotionally stable, spontaneous, improviser, always joking, player, wild and crazy, dominant, acts without thinking, not into organized religion, pro-weed legalization
(I find the last "personality adjective" hilarious.)
Also, hthth, I thought that was a very accurate diagnosis for you. :)

Hehehehe.
Haha. Actually, I'm amazed I got through it myself considering how many I've been answering lately. Recently registered on FaceBook and man, answering all the quizzes people send you is a full time job! It RAINS quizzes there.
Haha. Then my person shines through what I write online; when I read that description I was flabbergasted. It rang so true.
So... let's throw a party. You got the green stuff, right?

Intuitive (N) 56.76% Sensing (S) 43.24%
Thinking (T) 50% Feeling (F) 50%
Judging (J) 57.58% Perceiving (P) 42.42%

Feeling (F) 52.78% Thinking (T) 47.22%
Perceiving (P) 65.71% Judging (J) 34.29%
I lol'd at some of the descriptions...prone to lateness, check. Frequently losing things, check. Disorganized, check. I'm definitely those three!
I should be pretty emo and quite weird too by the description...though I don't think I am.

@SmileyFreak1981: YOu'll find that a lot of the time you have to take a look at the ones you're on the fence on to. For example, in your case, you may also be INTP, or even ISFP, or ISTP. Take a look at those descriptions and see if you can cobble something together that's more "you". Remember that even Jung -- inventor of the test -- didn't use this as a strict guideline, per se, only as an indicator of trends.

I blame Freud - you have to at some point in all discussions about psychology.... or at least you did when I was studying it.
