Does your avatar reflect who you are? What does it say about you?

A while back there was a note which asked whether your car reflects who you are. (Someone -- Pelf, I believe -- answered with by far the best response in there, something along the lines of "My car reflects what I can afford.") Now I ask a similar question (for a free item): Does your avatar reflect who you are? If so, what does it say about you?
Mine kind of does: notice that in it I'm dressed in a dress shirt and dress pants. That's the more businessy side of me. Notice the fact that I have a huge ball on my head. That's the playful/joker side of me. It also shows where I tend to place emphasis in myself and in my relations with people: intelligence. What it doesn't show is my artistic side, though if you look very closely you'll notice that the ball actually has two clear panes where eyes are supposed to be. Is that imagination or merely pattern recognition? Whatever, it was on purpose, if that says anything.
Anyway, what about yours?

My avatar was taken from above my head at a side/down angle. So while it's specific to me because well, it's me, it doesn't really show my face. So just from the avatar it would be difficult to identify me if you saw me in person on the street and have never met me before. I guess that means that I prefer to keep a sort of mysterious element to my online persona. My communication style is very straight-forward both online and off, but when it comes to myself I'm somewhat slow to reveal everything all at once, or right away.
Also, it was taken while I was sitting atop a favorite bright rose red velvet chaise lounge in my living room. At the time, I also had lavender and blue streaks in shorter-than-bob-length hair (though it's hard to tell in the avatar). I love bright colors. :) The light that dissipates into the avatar is in a stripe pattern from the blinds next to the chaise--which somewhat adds to my tad bit mysterious persona, I guess. *shrug*

The car example can be expanded beyond what someone can afford, to be a reflection that they're environmentally conscious (if they have a hybrid), practical (hatchback), in a family (van), etc. Just having a car, let alone the make/model, is telling.
Everything that someone does is a reflection of who they are. It doesn't have to be tangible; from the way someone reacts to an insult, to the way someone interprets the news, or even the process of cleaning their house.
An avatar is just one of the many things.
Since mine is a picture of myself, it probably says that I'm vain. :)

My avatar is a kanji symbol that is the root word for:
logic
reason
justice
order/cosmos
I hold those concepts above all else.

my avatar is the logo i made for my site. I'm not good at designing stuff, so it took me a while to get it to look like that and i must say i'm pretty proud of the way it came out

Mine is a cropped picture of myself. It is sorta similar to estarla's in that you can't exactly see what I look like, although it wouldn't be hard to figure out with a little digging. The intention wasn't to be mysterious though.
I do like that it kinda focuses on my ring. I like to be a little flashy sometimes, and I think the ring is a good representation of that.

I can tell you about Tyme's. I've heard rumors floating around that she is known as the black widow. She seduces you with her voice (if you heard it before you know what I mean) and then kills you with those eyes. She found a picture that reflected that vision and made sure it was black and white to throw even more emphasis on her being the Black Widow. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in Tyme's case it only means three: The Black Widow.
Freaky, I know.

Haha. Well, to be quite honest, I'm going to recatagorize that part of my being "mysterious" to being "shy." :P
@karmatosed: I heart coffee. I think it's a fine avatar. :)

Well, my icon was created because in 2005 I needed one for Flickr and I wanted something that would stick out and be recognisable - there were so many photos of people with a camera in front of their face or a close up of their eye, I just wanted something different that I'd be able to spot easily in the sea of comments.
Since then, I've got to know a lot of people through Flickr and people tell me that when they see the sign my avatar came from when out and about they think of me and my flickr stream. Quite a few people have said things like this actually.
So, as time went by, I got to the point where I couldn't change it any more because it was just part of me and my photos on Flickr.
It's just occurred to me though, that other than the favicon, it's not used on my blog at all.

My avatar is my face, but now I'm thinking it's very boring, not creative at all, and I don't want people to draw that conclusion. Now I must get to thinking.

my floral avatar reflects my love of flowers and gardening. I love gardening, getting my hands dirty from the earth, planting and watching life grow.

My avatar shows my face because I think I'm pretty.
Just kidding!
Seriously, it's a cropped picture of me because I lack the imagination to think of other more suitable avatar, and I lack the creativity to design one *gulps*

I'm somewhat boring and use the favicon from my website as default. However, tweeters get an oldie photo from ~2004, and facebookers get a punk portrait, according to those who have seen it.

My avatar and default profile picture for most sites is a photo of me in my office, stressed out, rocking a vest and tie like a j. crew ad. It says a lot about me: I'm a fraud.

You know RightOn, I always wondered about that. What's the logo on the hat?
@Karmatosed, I liked your coffee bean. For a long time I thought it was lips, but that's just because I use a laptop with a teensy monitor.
My avatar does not reflect who I am. I am not a flower. Obviously. But it's a lily, and that is my name, so it's a good name representer. After I figured out how to make it the right size I was never tempted to change it because the whole avatar thing is just too damned hard.

Mine shows...shows.
Seriously, I have no idea what I'm trying to portray in my avatar. It's a penguin, with wings and a halo.
Maybe I'm trying to soften my image by showing that I love those cute future overlords of ours.
Maybe I'm delusional by believing that I'm some kind of angel meant to watch over people in trouble.
Maybe I just like to keep people guessing.
It's worked so far. I'm still trying to guess who I am. :)

My avatar is the logo for my website... if you visited my website you'd know it's called the Whitehawk.
If you've ever read the Manga Berserk, or watched the anime, you'll know that the Whitehawk refers to a character named Griffith (tada! my nickname), and although Griffith doesn't reflect my personality entirely, I aim to be as ambitious as he is.
So yes, it sort of reflects my personality :)

My icon is from a photobooth (on the mac) photo. Though it's been compared to Frank Miller's Sin City style, that was not my intention. I just liked the way it looked. There's not a whole lot of meaning behind it besides I find it very pretty. :)
It's from this image.

Mine is my tattoo, actually, and also a symbol I've been using with my artwork since I was 15, I think. It's sort of my "brand" symbol of sorts. Here's what it means:

Mine's just a picture of me. I'm not sure if it represents me very well, though. I think I was trying to portray thoughtfulness, and just came off as looking like a grump. I'm going to get a new picture fairly soon.

My avatar is a detail shot from one of my favorite quilts called Paisley Pavane. I completed the quilt in 2005, and it's been touring the US in museums and galleries since then, so I haven't gotten to see it much. I love the colors, and seeing it as my avatar reminds me that I do still own that quilt, and that it's coming home soon! Beside that, it's a quilt, and that's what I do, so it's a reflection of sorts.

Mine is a little is a little pixel me.
I did a series of these for another site I was on and decided to use it here. It was my favorite brown shirt but I killed it in a grizzly laundry accident a few months ago. I might update/change my avatar...
