Where do you get your inspiration for everything in your tech/freelance life? Such as writing, design, photography, etc.
My blogging inspiration comes from Paul Stamatiou and Darren Rowse, along with Derek of 5ThirtyOne.

Everywhere - everyone - everything.
I see something I like and I'll run with it. :)

I agree with nick, I write about whatever is on my mind.

I basically get my inspiration from everything around me. I try not to limit it to things I find on the computer.

JPhill: That is so important. I myself I'm still in the process of focussing on what I want to write about, and I feel that the interesting stuff is away from the screen, maybe just behind me on that bookshelf. When I have a blockage, I just get up, take a walk around our house and when I'm back I would've seen/heard/picked up something that chruned my mind.

All of the above. You have to have an open mind, which means not only looking around you at everything but examing these things from all perspectives. The more viewpoints you can see it makes it easier to transfer your thoughts to paper (or screen).

Yup. Everywhere. It's amazing how often the most seemingly insignificant occurance or observation will trigger a chain reaction in my brain that gets turned into a blog post. I especially get inspired watching and learning from my three-year-old daughter, from my relationship with my wife and anytime I am out in nature.

I am inspired by music and the emotions that go along with the lyrics.

Go to the nearest preschool and just sit and watch. It's the curiousity of everything in life that a two year old has that most adults lost. It is the inspiration for writing and photography. This is the age that intently studies one leaf falling off a tree. They watch a beetle for ten minutes as it very slowly moves one inch.

Inspiration is so fickle! It hits me very randomly, but usually I can get inspired by reading design books, going through tutorials, listening to music, and playing around with photos or illustrations. But too much absorption can also lead to me being overwhelmed, so it's a delicate balance!

There is a muse, but I have to train him to be on time. We've progressed from tazers to chains. I am happy to say I will soon be able to verbally summon him ... in a year. Or two.
Till then ... ZAP!
